This course was developed for a construction company aiming to improve accountability within its field teams. As the instructional designer and project manager, I led the end-to-end process of identifying training needs, designing the learning experience, and managing course development. The company’s primary objective was to provide field leaders with practical strategies for fostering accountability, addressing common challenges, and improving team performance.
The project focused on creating an asynchronous, online learning experience tailored to the needs of field leaders in the construction industry. After collaborating with stakeholders, we determined that a one-hour course would balance depth with practicality, meeting the audience's need for concise yet impactful training. Using Articulate Rise for course structure and Articulate Storyline for advanced interactivity, I designed a learning solution that was both accessible and engaging.
The design process began with a needs analysis, which involved discussions with field leaders and executive management to pinpoint accountability as a critical area for improvement. Partnering with an organizational development expert, I crafted a 3-step accountability process specifically designed for construction teams. This process was organized into three key modules: Module I: Introduction to Accountability, Module II: Roadblocks to Accountability, and Module III: Accountability on a High-Performing Team.
To ensure the course was grounded in evidence and aligned with real-world challenges, I conducted background research on accountability frameworks, including insights from The Five Dysfunctions of a Team and academic studies on trust and accountability within teams. Additionally, I gathered first-hand accounts from field team members, which were instrumental in developing realistic, construction-specific scenarios. These scenarios illustrated common accountability challenges and guided learners through practical solutions.
Given the limitations of Articulate Rise for creating detailed feedback mechanisms, I developed interactive scenarios in Storyline to provide learners with personalized guidance based on their responses. These scenarios were seamlessly embedded into the Rise course, ensuring a cohesive learning experience that balanced intuitive navigation with robust interactivity.
The comprehensive design and development process successfully addressed the company’s goals by creating a scalable and industry-specific approach to accountability training. This course serves as a robust foundation for future initiatives aimed at improving team performance and accountability within the organization.

This project was developed for an enterprise asset management (EAM) consulting firm seeking to transition from live training sessions to scalable, asynchronous learning. The goal was to translate their instructional materials and documentation into an online learning path that could be delivered globally. As the instructional designer and developer, I worked closely with the client to design a comprehensive, scalable learning solution aligned with their training objectives.
The learning solution involved the development of a structured learning path comprising five distinct courses targeted at maintenance departments in asset-intensive organizations. Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs), we identified key topics and structured the content to meet industry needs. Using tools like Absorb Create, Absorb LMS, and Canva, I designed and developed a solution that balanced interactivity, engagement, and scalability. The final learning path totaled over 15 hours of training content, providing learners with a robust foundation in enterprise asset management.
The design process began with a needs analysis, where I conducted an inventory of existing resources, including PowerPoint presentations, documentation, and the client’s EAM playbook. Through discussions with stakeholders, I identified how to organize the material into five distinct courses and prioritized course development based on learner demand. Balancing the need for interactivity with the project’s development timeline, we determined that a Level 2 interactivity approach would be ideal for keeping learners engaged without overextending resources. Absorb Create was selected as the authoring tool for its seamless integration with the client’s LMS.
After establishing the course structure, I defined learning objectives in collaboration with the SME. Each course was storyboarded in detail, with narration scripts and instructional strategies such as knowledge checks, reflection activities, and real-world scenarios. Quiz questions were designed to align with the learning objectives, ensuring effective knowledge retention. I also created prototypes to test and refine the course flow before full-scale development began.
The courses were designed to offer an engaging and practical learning experience.
The final deliverables included five asynchronous courses comprising over 15 hours of training on enterprise asset management topics. The learning path provided a scalable solution, enabling the client to reach a global workforce without the need for additional live sessions. The badge system fostered learner motivation and recognition, while reusable templates streamlined the process for future course development. By transitioning from live training to asynchronous learning, the client significantly increased their training capacity and ensured their workforce had consistent access to high-quality learning resources.

This project was developed for a marketing department seeking to enhance the interactivity, personalization, and engagement of their asynchronous eLearning courses. As the instructional designer and learning developer, I created a sample activity using Articulate Storyline to demonstrate how it could be used to assess learner knowledge in an engaging and customized manner. The proposed solution paired Storyline’s interactive capabilities with the efficiency of Rise, maintaining time and resource constraints while elevating the overall learning experience.
The learning solution included the design and development of a Storyline project that could be used as a flexible template for future skills assessments. This template was tailored to address key gaps in existing learning materials on Connective Ads, including the lack of role-based customization, personalized recommendations tied to learner outcomes, and visual milestone maps to improve engagement and reduce cognitive load. By embedding Storyline interactions within Rise courses, the solution balanced customization and interactivity with streamlined course development processes.
I began by taking an inventory of the existing courses on Connective Ads to identify areas for improvement. While learning gap assessments existed, they lacked key features such as role-based branching, targeted recommendations based on assessment outcomes, and visual aids to guide learners through their journey. These gaps presented an opportunity to incorporate gamification and chunk the assessment into manageable, engaging steps using a “learning journey” visual aid with milestones and checkpoints.
The template was designed in Storyline to incorporate these enhancements while ensuring it could be easily adapted for future use. Personalized branching allowed learners to input their role, leading them to role-specific content and questions. A milestone map with visual checkpoints provided immediate feedback, helping learners track their progress and stay engaged throughout the activity. Additionally, personalized learning recommendations were integrated based on assessment outcomes, guiding learners to specific resources aligned with their needs. This thoughtful design process ensured a balance between interactivity, learner engagement, and scalability.
The final template included several features to elevate the learner experience:
This project increased awareness within the marketing department of how Rise and Storyline could be paired to create interactive and personalized learning experiences while adhering to resource and time constraints. The Storyline template served as a proof of concept and a scalable tool for future course development. By addressing key learning gaps and proposing an innovative solution, the project laid the groundwork for improved learner engagement and better alignment with organizational training goals.
